Postdoctoral Fellow in Protein Design, Wenner-Gren Institute, Sweden

Study in Sweden

Postdoctoral Fellow in Protein Design: The Department of Molecular Biosciences, Wenner-Gren Institute at Stockholm University is inviting applications for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow in Protein Design. The successful candidate will join the research group focusing on the laboratory aspects of protein design, with a specific emphasis on evaluating the properties of designed proteins and biomolecules interacting with proteins. The research will involve diverse aspects of protein function, including DNA binding, protein-protein interactions, and catalytic capabilities. Techniques such as surface plasmon resonance (SPR) will be employed to assess protein interactions, and a strong foundation in protein biophysics and modern computational methods is essential for this role.

Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow

Research Area: Protein Design, Protein Interactions, Laboratory Research

Location: Stockholm

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country, with a strong research background.
  • The degree must have been completed no more than three years before the closing date, with allowances made for certain exceptional circumstances.
  • The ideal candidate should possess skills and expertise in Surface Plasmon Resonance and other affinity methods, protein production and purification, protein design, demonstrated ability to work independently, and experience in cell culture.

Job Description: The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for:

  • Independently evaluating protein interactions using affinity methods, with a focus on SPR.
  • Designing laboratory workflows to efficiently analyze the chemical aspects of proteins and other biomolecules.
  • Applying machine learning tools for protein design and assessing the feasibility of generated designs.
  • Conducting large-scale data analysis.
  • Expressing and purifying designed protein products in various cell systems, primarily bacterial cells.
