PhD Researcher in Urban ecology, University of Helsinki, Finland

Postdoc in Finland

PhD Researcher in Urban ecology: The University of Helsinki is seeking a highly motivated and qualified PhD Researcher to participate in a research project that investigates the adaptive benefits of urban evolution in the common butterfly, Pieris napi (Green-veined White, Lanttuperhonen). The project will explore how the evolution of this species in Helsinki provides adaptive advantages by rearing offspring from both urban and rural butterflies in outdoor cages in both locations.

This unique opportunity not only offers a chance to contribute to the field of urban evolution but also involves collaboration with local schools, engaging students in the planning and execution of experiments. The project aims to provide insights into science education and the involvement of young individuals in scientific research.

The PhD Researcher will also have the opportunity to engage in other projects related to the urban evolution of P. napi and incorporate their own research interests into the project.
