Postdoc Position (2 years) 2019 in Sweden, Umeå University

PhD Position in Medical Science: Join the innovative world of molecular biology, proteostasis, and cellular aging as a PhD student in our research group at Umeå University in Sweden. We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate for pioneering studies on the molecular processes underlying age-related diseases, such as neurodegeneration and cancer.

What We Offer:

  • A 4-year PhD position in the lab of Verena Kohler at Umeå University’s Medical Faculty.
  • A collaborative research environment at the Department of Molecular Biology, Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS), and Umeå Centre for Microbial Research (UCMR).
  • Access to cutting-edge scientific and technical resources.

Project Description:

PhD Position in Medical Science – Molecular Biology and Proteostasis Research

The PhD student will investigate age-related changes in protein quality control and their communication across organelle boundaries. Our research combines advanced microscopy and comprehensive whole-genome screening techniques in yeast, followed by validation of our findings in human cell culture models. This dual-model approach ensures the relevance and significance of our research in the field of biomedicine.

Why Choose Us: Join our research group for an inclusive, collaborative environment that values responsibility, trust, reliability, and openness. As a PhD student, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping proteostasis and cellular aging research while enjoying support, mentorship, and the freedom to innovate.
