Scholarship Description: The projects involve collaborative research with stakeholders and focus on advancing knowledge in electrochemical CO/CO conversion and developing net-zero transition pathways for decarbonizing Canada’s heavy-duty transport sector within the hydrogen value chain.

Eligibility:

For Ph.D. Student (Electrochemical CO/CO Conversion):

  • Recent MSc or PD (within the last five years) in Chemistry, Chemical/Electrochemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in electrochemistry, electrochemical engineering, materials synthesis, catalysis, and physicochemical characterization.
  • Effective communication skills for presentations, journal articles, and conferences.
  • Ability to prepare and submit proposals for grant applications.

For PDFs (Hydrogen Value Chain):

  • Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field obtained within the last five years.
  • Proven research experience in the hydrogen value chain, including production, processing, transportation, and end-use technologies.
  • Technical expertise in life cycle assessment, systems analysis, and techno-economic analysis of energy systems.
  • Track record in process modeling and simulation tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, Aspen Adsorption, GaB, SigmaPro, OpenLCA).
  • Capability to prepare and submit proposals for grant applications.
