Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow :Exciting opportunity to join the National University of Singapore’s Signature Research Programme (SRP) – Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID), and the Centre for Outbreak Preparedness (COP). This joint position as a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow involves managing the Asia PGI Training Academy, contributing to genomic surveillance, and strengthening regional health security.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in infectious diseases related disciplines, with a focus on pathogen genomics and bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or Computer Science.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of post-doctoral experience in infectious diseases, pathogen genomics, or similar fields.
- Extensive experience in molecular laboratory work and pathogen sequencing.
- Proficient in scripting/programming languages, statistical packages, Linux/Unix operating systems, high-performance computing clusters, relational database design, and web development.
- Experience in pathogen genomic epidemiology and modeling.
- Prior experience training others in pathogen sequencing and/or bioinformatics is recommended.
- Technical understanding of pathogen genomics, outbreak preparedness, and surveillance.
- International experience, especially in South Asian and Southeast Asian regions, and proven record of working with multinational teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
- Experience in research, grant writing, and ability to undertake research assignments with minimal supervision.
- Occasional travel required, especially within Asia.
- Strong interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills.
Job Description:
Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow – Asia PGI Training Academy
- Manage the Asia PGI Training Academy, ensuring effective planning, organization, and execution of training programs.
- Collaborate with Deputy Director of COP and Director of EID, and partners to ensure adherence to guidelines and scientific standards.
- Contribute to the development of the training Academy’s pathogen genomics curriculum.
- Supervise and manage the Asia PGI Training laboratory site, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines.
- Contribute to virtual learning platforms, including scheduled webinars on pathogen genomics.
- Supervise, train, and coordinate work of designated staff on Academy trainings and research projects.
- Conduct research in pathogen genomic surveillance, with a focus on bioinformatics and biostatistical analyses.
- Contribute to research, writing, and coordinating grant application processes.
- Support the delivery and execution of programme work across multiple projects in COP and EID.
- Perform related duties, including occasional admin and coordination activities.
