Scholarship Description:

Doctoral Researcher (PhD Student) in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics

The Doctoral Researcher will investigate emergent electronic phenomena in monolayer and heterobilayers van der Waals materials. Using molecular beam epitaxy and low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy, they will synthesize and characterize materials, contributing to the group’s world-renowned expertise.

Eligibility:

  • Master’s degree in condensed matter physics or a closely related field.
  • Experience in low-temperature and ultra-high vacuum systems.
  • Proficiency in English, with no Finnish language requirement.
  • Interest in superconductivity and magnetism.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international research group.
  • Existing skills in epitaxial thin film growth and scanning probe techniques are considered strong assets.
