Postdoc in Sustainable Biohybrid: Linköping University invites applications for the position of Postdoc in Sustainable Biohybrid Living Materials and Devices. The project, funded by Dr. Stavrinidou’s ERC-Starting Grant 4D-PhytoHybrid, aims to harness biological processes to enable living characteristics in technological systems. The postdoc will work on developing biohybrid living materials and devices based on photosynthetic organisms with responsive and evolving characteristics.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in engineering, bioelectronics, bio or tissue engineering, biotechnology, or equivalent.
  • Strong scientific background with a focus on additive manufacturing, microfabrication, microfluidics, stimuli-responsive materials, in-vitro, and in-vivo interface.
  • Preferably, the doctoral degree should not be older than three years at the application deadline.
  • Strong motivation, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary context.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Job Description:

Postdoc in Sustainable Biohybrid Living Materials and Devices

The postdoc will principally carry out research activities, including the development of biohybrid living materials and devices. This involves integrating plants and plant components into materials systems/devices with evolving electrical and mechanical properties. The research has an interdisciplinary character, covering material-device characterization and plant biology. Collaboration with experts in chemistry and plant biology is integral to the role.
