Postdoctoral Researcher (Computational Chemistry): The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at California State University, Chico (CSU, Chico) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Chemistry. This full-time position is part of an exciting U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)-sponsored project, “KinSocieties,” in collaboration with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). The successful candidate will conduct research on atomistic modeling of heterogeneous interfaces for advanced energy storage, focusing on lithium-containing molecular species in metal-organic frameworks for lithium-sulfur batteries.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD earned within 5 years prior to employment in chemistry, physics, materials science, or related field.
- Expertise in density functional theory for simulations of chemical reactions and/or transport phenomena.
- Experience in large-scale ab initio simulations on high-performance computing environments.
- Ability to work independently, influence technical objectives, and provide in-depth analysis.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication in English.
- Interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
Job Description: The Postdoctoral Researcher will:
- Perform density functional theory-based electronic structure calculations and molecular dynamic simulations.
- Develop structure-composition-property relationships using statistical, analytical, and machine learning methodologies.
- Collect, prepare, and analyze research data; discuss results in group meetings.
- Contribute to the conception, design, and execution of research to address defined problems.
- Collaborate with computational and experimental scientists at LLNL and San Jose State University.
- Document research, publish papers in peer-reviewed journals, and present results at conferences.
