Scholarship Description:

PhD and PDF Scholarship Positions in Electrochemical CO2/C0 Conversion and Technoeconomic Analysis of Hydrogen Value Chain

The selected candidates will actively contribute to collaborative projects, engaging with stakeholders such as industry partners and think tanks. The research areas encompass electrochemistry, materials synthesis, catalysis, and technoeconomic analysis of the hydrogen value chain, specifically targeting net-zero transition pathways for decarbonizing Canada’s heavy-duty transport sector.

Eligibility:

  • Ph.D. Candidate (Electrochemical CO2/C0 Conversion):
    • Recent MSc or Ph.D. (within the last five years) in Chemistry, Chemical/Electrochemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, or related discipline.
    • Solid background in electrochemistry, materials synthesis, catalysis, and physicochemical characterization.
    • Ability to communicate and publish research results, present at conferences, and prepare grant proposals.
  • Post-Doctoral Fellow (Hydrogen Value Chain):
    • Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field within the last five years.
    • Research experience in modeling the hydrogen value chain, life cycle assessment, and techno-economic analysis.
    • Proficiency in process modeling and simulation tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, GaBi).

Required Documents: Applicants must submit the following documents:

  • A cover letter detailing availability, suitability, and motivation for the role, including a summary of past, current, and future research interests and accomplishments.
  • A current curriculum vitae (CV).
  • Official or unofficial copies of diploma(s)/university certificate(s).
  • The names and contact information, including email addresses, for at least three (3) referees familiar with the candidate’s research and academic experience.

How to Apply: To apply, send your application package to Dr. Md Golam Kibria at md.kibria@ucalgary.ca. Please ensure your application includes the specified documents outlined above.

Last Date: Preference will be given to candidates able to join as soon as possible (January 2024). Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. The deadline for applications is the last date to be announced.
