Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates should have a background in (general) linguistics, strong data science skills (statistical modeling of corpus and database data), and a willingness to step out of disciplinary comfort zones. Specializations can include comparative (historical or typological) linguistics and/or language acquisition research. Basic knowledge of anthropology, biology, or psychology is advantageous.
Job Description: The positions, primarily at the Department of Comparative Language Science at the University of Zurich (UZH), involve interdisciplinary collaboration within the NCCR. PhD positions lead to a dissertation and can be financed up to 4 years. Postdoc positions are usually shorter, by agreement. Employment is at 80% FTE, including teaching assistant tasks (PhD students) or teaching (Postdocs). Successful candidates are expected to use the remaining 20% for further training and skill development.
