Title: Research Assistant OR Research Fellow in Low-Carbon Energy Systems (4701)
Research Assistant OR Research Fellow: Cranfield University invites applications for a Research Assistant or Research Fellow position in Low-Carbon Energy Systems. The role involves contributing technical expertise to projects focused on carbon capture and use (CCU) for low-carbon energy systems and fuel production. The position is part of a collaborative project aiming to create a cost-effective, low-carbon circular ecosystem, producing bio-methanol from by-products of an Anaerobic digestion biogas plant trial. The role includes process design, techno-economic assessment, life cycle assessment, and active dissemination of research outputs.
Designation: Research Assistant (if close to completing PhD) / Research Fellow (if PhD obtained)

Location: Cranfield Campus, Cranfield, Bedfordshire
Eligibility/Qualification:
– PhD (or near completion; or MSc/MRes with additional working experience) in carbon capture, power engineering, energy, or related discipline.
– Demonstrable experience in process design, techno-economic feasibility, and life cycle assessment of CCU for low-carbon fuel production.
– Fluency in process modeling and life cycle assessment using commercial or in-house software.
– Strong track record via publications in high-quality journals.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will contribute to the “Bio-methanol Manufacturing Using Farming Biogas By-Products” project, focusing on process design, techno-economic assessment, and life cycle assessment of CCU. Responsibilities include developing process models, conducting feasibility assessments, and actively contributing to research output dissemination through manuscripts and conference presentations. The role involves collaboration with the project team, including gastrosurgeons, and contributing to lab duties.
