Eligibility & Qualifications
- Academic Credentials: A completed PhD in Material Science, Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field.
- Domain Knowledge: Prior knowledge of coatings, paints, polymers, or related functional materials is an advantage.
- Technical & Analytical Competence: Strong experimental design capabilities, data interpretation skills, and laboratory troubleshooting proficiency.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary, international teams, with an interest in mentoring/coaching junior technicians and chemists.
- Communication: Excellent technical writing and presentation skills in English. Dutch proficiency or willingness to learn is a plus.
- Safety & Quality Standards: Strong commitment to Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) protocols and laboratory best practices.
Position & Research Description
As a Researcher I within the Global Innovation Group, you will contribute directly to R&D projects shaping future product portfolios:
- Experimental Design & Execution: Translate high-level project goals into rigorous laboratory test plans, executing chemical and physical formulations and sample characterization.
- Data Synthesis & Reporting: Evaluate test data, identify trends, and communicate findings via clear technical reports and stakeholder presentations.
- Innovation & Ideation: Scan scientific literature, monitor emerging technological developments, and identify viable new research directions.
- Cross-Functional Teamwork: Partner with multidisciplinary scientists, application specialists, and project managers across global R&D sites.
- Laboratory Coordination: Maintain testing standards, ensure timely delivery of experimental milestones, and provide technical guidance to laboratory support staff.
