CRUK CI PhD Studentship in Generative Modelling for Foundational Discovery in Biomedicine
Designation
PhD Student
Research Area
Generative Modelling, Machine Learning, Biomedical Discovery
Location
CRUK Cambridge Institute, Cambridge, UK
Eligibility/Qualification
- BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related computational field
- Strong background in machine learning and programming
- Passionate about applying research to biological and medical problems
- Recent graduates or final-year undergraduates expected to graduate with a First/Upper Second Class degree (or equivalent)

Job Description
Join Dr. Hana Aliee’s team to work on generative models for multimodal data representation in biomedicine. The project will enhance model generalizability, interpretability, and causal grounding, developing new optimisation algorithms with biological insights. The focus includes:
- Generative modelling techniques (e.g., diffusion models, self-supervised approaches)
- Causal machine learning
- Graph neural networks and dynamical systems modelling
- Integration of biological knowledge to improve predictive capabilities
How to Apply
Interested applicants should submit their applications through the University Applicant Portal indicating their start date as April 2026. Be sure to quote reference SW47896 in your application and related correspondence.
Last Date for Apply
15th December 2025
