Eligibility/Qualification

  • Applicants must be postdoctoral researchers with an excellent scientific record.
  • A completed doctorate with outstanding results before the start of funding is mandatory.
  • No restrictions on nationality or current residency, but applicants must adhere to mobility rules concerning the chosen research destination.
  • Applicants must not have resided or worked in the chosen destination country for more than 12 months in the three years preceding the application deadline.
  • Candidates must identify suitable host institutions in both Germany and abroad.

Job Description

  • The fellowship provides an 18-month temporary employment contract at a German university.
  • The first 12 months will be dedicated to conducting research abroad, with the last 6 months focused on reintegration into the German academic system.
  • Fellows will receive a salary based on the German TV-L EG 13 pay scale, along with a monthly expatriate allowance during the research stay, adjusted according to area classification.
  • Additional travel subsidies are available for postdoctoral scientists, including support for accompanying spouses and children.
