Doctoral Position in Theoretical Biophysics: The Centre for the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour (CASCB) invites applications for a doctoral position in theoretical biophysics. This unique research opportunity is part of a collaboration between the University of Konstanz and the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior, focusing on collective behavior across various species and organizational levels.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field (preferably physics), but backgrounds in computer science, applied mathematics, or engineering will also be considered.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Relevant experience with statistical mechanics and machine learning techniques is desired.
  • Very good communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.

Job Description:

  • Develop and analytically derive models related to social interaction in animal groups.
  • Conduct numerical model simulations.
  • Analyze experimental data from various sources.
  • Present research findings at local and international conferences.
  • Write research papers and contribute to publications.
