Tampere University is seeking a highly motivated Doctoral Researcher in biomedicine, focusing on neurodegenerative research. Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree in biosciences or a related subject area.
- Basic experience in cell culture and laboratory work.
- Preferably some background in genomics assays.
- Additional experience in computational biology is an advantage.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Must have completed a relevant Master’s degree before the starting date of employment.
- Must be pursuing or accepted to study towards a doctoral degree in the Doctoral Programme in Medicine, Biosciences and Biomedical Engineering.
Scholarship Description
The Doctoral Researcher will focus full-time on their doctoral research, receiving supervision and contributing to a research team in a multidisciplinary environment. The project involves investigating how microglial states emerge in response to neurodegenerative disease-related stressors and how these states manifest within diseased brain tissue, utilizing advanced single-cell and spatial genomic techniques and computational inference approaches.
In addition to the doctoral dissertation, duties may include participation in education or other faculty tasks supporting the studies.
