Summary
The Division of Industrial Biotechnology at Chalmers University of Technology is seeking a highly motivated doctoral student to join Associate Professor Cecilia Geijer’s research group. This project explores the biodiversity of yeasts found in honey and the hive environment to identify probiotic effects that can protect honeybees from pathogens and promote overall bee health.

Eligibility & Qualifications
- Education: A Master’s degree (120 credits) or a Master’s degree (60 credits) in biotechnology, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a similar field. (For education outside of Sweden, a 4-year Bachelor’s degree is accepted).
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience: Proven work experience in a biotechnology laboratory setting.
- Soft Skills: Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to a positive research environment.
- Meritorious: Experience/coursework in eukaryotic microbiology, analytical chemistry, bioinformatics, ecology, HPLC/GC-MS techniques, genome editing, and omics technologies.
Job Description
- Conduct independent research including experimental design, data generation, and analysis.
- Develop scientific concepts and communicate research findings.
- Participate in courses at the Graduate school of Bioscience.
- Contribute to teaching at the undergraduate level (10-20% of work hours).
- Collaborate with both internal and external research partners.
