Summary
Karolinska Institutet is offering an exciting doctoral student position focused on understanding how long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) regulate adipocyte insulin sensitivity. This research project aims to explore the complex interactions between lncRNAs and metabolic processes in adipose tissue, contributing to better insights into cardiometabolic diseases.

Eligibility/Qualification
General Eligibility Requirement:
- Second-cycle/advanced/master qualification (master’s degree), or
- 240 credits with at least 60 credits from advanced/second-cycle/master level, or
- Equivalent knowledge acquired elsewhere.
Specific Eligibility Requirement:
- Proficiency in English equivalent to English B/English 6 at Swedish upper secondary school.
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree in biotechnology, biomedicine, molecular biology, medicine, or related fields.
- Experience in molecular biology methodologies (e.g., Western blot analyses, qRT-PCR).
- Experience in omics data analysis (RNA-sequencing, proteomics) using R or Linux-based tools.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently.
Highly Advantageous:
- Knowledge of RNA-protein interactions and RNA structural motifs.
- Data visualization skills using R, Python, or similar programs.
Job Description
The doctoral student will investigate how disease-relevant lncRNAs affect adipocyte insulin sensitivity. This will be achieved through the analysis of human white adipose tissue (WAT) biopsies, focusing on lncRNAs that respond to insulin stimulation. The project includes detailed molecular studies, imaging, and the development of methods to characterize lncRNA structures and their functional roles in adipocyte metabolism.
