Eligibility / Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Degree: Master’s degree (or equivalent university degree) in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or Applied Physics with excellent academic records.
- Technical Skills: Strong background in physical-layer and data-link layer communications, information theory, signal processing, and (optical) wireless channel modeling.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with relevant signal processing and communication simulation toolkits.
- Language Proficiency: High level of English fluency (minimum C1 level, spoken and written).
- EU Mobility Rule: Must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the Netherlands for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the start of the position.
- Additional Qualities: Passion for research, teamwork, willingness to spend time abroad for secondments, and enthusiasm for developing teaching skills (coaching students).
Job Description
- Research Focus: Analyze combined FSO-RF-Fiber channels, construct accurate yet lightweight channel models, and design jointly optimized transmission schemes (waveforms, modulation, coding, low-level protocols).
- Link Architectures: Propose and design innovative hybrid link architectures and validate them through theoretical, simulation, and experimental analysis using the facilities at the Centre for Wireless Technology (CWTe).
- Teaching & Mentorship: Allocate 10% to 15% of total working hours toward teaching tasks and coaching students.
- International Collaboration: Participate in secondments and joint research activities with 24 academic and industrial partners within the ANCHOR doctoral network consortium.
