Job/Position Description- 

Funded Postdoc opening in the Wolf lab to study the molecular encoding of alcohol experience in Drosophila.

The Wolf lab at UC Merced is seeking a Post-Doctoral Scholar. You will study the encoding of experience in the brain driven by the widely abused drug alcohol. The goal is to discover the neural circuitry and the molecular encoding mechanisms for acute and chronic alcohol exposure using Drosophila as a research organism, with a focus on molecules and mechanisms conserved to humans. The Wolf lab identified two independent transcriptional pathways that drive changes in presynaptic structure and function (https://doi.org/10.1111/gbb.12486https://doi.org/10.1523/JNEUROSCI.0499-16.2016). The successful candidate will be appointed in the Department of Molecular Cell Biology at UC Merced. You will be part of a team of graduate students and undergraduate students in a lab that is devoted to understanding the neural coding of motivation and its interactions with addiction.
