Applications are invited for one Guest Faculty position in the Department of Microbial Biotechnology at Panjab University, Chandigarh, to teach M.Sc. classes during the odd semester of the 2025-2026 academic year. Eligibility / Qualification
EssentialQualification:
Master’s degree in Microbiology/Biotechnology/MicrobialBiotechnology or allied subject with atleast 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. A relaxation of 5% shall be provided for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled/Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non-creamy Layer)/ Ph.D. Degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September, 1991.
Desirablequalification:
Ph.D. in Microbiology/Biotechnology or allied fields.
Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission. Provided further,candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July 11 ,2009 ,shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:-
- Ph.D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only.
- Evaluation of the Ph.D .thesis by atleast two external examiners.
- An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate had been conducted.
- Candidate has published two research papers from his/herPh.D.work out of which atleast one must be in a refereed journal.
- Candidate has made atleast two presentations in conference/seminars ,based on his/herPh.D.work. (a)to(e)as above are to be certified by the Registrar/Dean(Academic Affairs).
Job Description
- The above assignment will be on lecture basis with a token honorarium of Rs.1500/- per lecture with an upper limit of Rs.50000/-per month. The candidate will have to give an undertaking that he/she will not draw any fellowship /stipendor any financial assistance from any agency till they are teaching in the Department of Microbial Biotechnology, Panjab University, South Campus, Sector-25, Chandigarh as a Guest Faculty. The candidates who are already availing RF scholarships in the University are not entitled forthe honorarium but they will be issued experience certificate for the Guest Faculty. The candidates are required to submit a No objection certificate from the present employer along with their application.
