HDR Scholarship – Curtin University: The Centre for Crop and Disease Management (CCDM) at Curtin University invites applications for the 2023 HDR Scholarship. This scholarship provides a unique opportunity for a highly motivated PhD candidate to contribute to the development of multi-omic pipelines for the analysis of disease dynamics in crop plants. The research, co-supported by Curtin University and the Grains Research and Development Corporation, aims to reduce the impact of crop disease in the Australian grains industry.

Scholarship Details:

2023 HDR Scholarship – Develop Multi-Omic Pipelines for Disease Dynamics in Crop Plants

  • Domestic candidates: Tax-free stipend of $32,250(AUD) per annum for up to 3.5 years.
  • International candidates: Tax-free stipend of $32,250(AUD) per annum for up to 3 years. Strong candidates may be eligible for a tuition fee offset support.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Background in plant molecular biology, bioinformatics, or related fields.
  • Qualifications: Australian First Class Bachelor (Honours) degree, coursework Masters with at least 25% research component, Research Master’s degree, or equivalent overseas qualifications.
  • Strong academic performance in plant pathology, molecular biology, and/or bioinformatics.
  • Understanding of genome architecture for polyploid plants and multi-omic data analysis tools.
  • Willingness to learn laboratory and bioinformatic techniques applicable to plant and fungi propagation.
