About- IIT Bhilai is an institute of national importance declared as such under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act 2016 to provide for education and research in various branches of engineering, technology, science and arts.
Research/Job Area-
Applications are invited for the following departments (focused areas include but are not limited to):
- Computer Science and Engineering: All areas with a special focus on AI/ML and Systems.
- Electrical Engineering: Machine Design, EV motor drives, Power systems, Smart grid, Battery Engineering, Signal Processing, Control, and Instrumentation.
- Mechanical Engineering: Solid Mechanics, Fracture Mechanics, Biomechanics, Microfluidics, Turbulence, Additive Manufacturing, Laser surface engineering, and Industry 4.0.
- Chemistry: Inorganic Magnetic Materials, Spintronics, Carbohydrate Chemistry, Chemical Biology, and Medicinal Chemistry.
- Liberal Arts: Economics, English, and Psychology.
- Mathematics: Algebra, Probability & Statistics, Optimization, Graph Theory, Complex Analysis, and Theoretical Computer Science.
- Physics: Quantum Gravity, Nonlinear Dynamics, Chaos Theory, Theoretical Astrophysics, and Experimental Physics.
- Mechatronics: Machine Vision, Cyber-physical systems, Digital twin, MEMS, Embedded systems, Applied AI/ML, and Automotive mechatronics.
- Bio Science and Bio Medical Engineering: Biomedical devices, Biomedical imaging, Biosensors, and Biomechanics.
- Electronics and Communication Engineering: Signal processing, RF & Microwave, VLSI & Embedded System Design.
- Material Science and Metallurgical Engineering: Extractive Metallurgy, Polymers, and Ceramic Materials.

Eligibility/Qualification–
- Academic Record: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant area with first-class or equivalent grades at the preceding degree and possess a consistently good academic record throughout their academic career.
- Associate Professor: Must have demonstrated leadership in independent research, guided master’s and Ph.D. students, and hold an excellent record of publications, sponsored research, and patents.
- Professor: Must have demonstrated leadership in research, an excellent publication record, successful graduation of Ph.D. students, and excellent teaching abilities. External recognition and generation of sufficient research funding are highly desirable.
Job/Position Description-
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai, an Institute of National Importance, invites applications from exceptionally bright and highly motivated Indian nationals (including PIOs and OCIs) and Foreign Nationals. We are seeking faculty members with an established record of independent, high-quality research and a strong commitment to teaching across various engineering, technology, science, and arts departments. Foreign nationals can be offered contractual appointments for up to five years, subject to renewal.

Selected candidates will be responsible for:
- Delivering high-quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Establishing and leading independent, high-impact research programs in their respective specializations.
- Supervising Ph.D. and master’s students.
- Engaging in outreach performance, handling sponsored research projects, technology transfer, and patent filing.
- Contributing to laboratory, course, and institutional development.

- Employed Candidates: Applicants working in Government, Semi-Government, PSUs, or Autonomous Bodies must upload a “NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE” alongside a “VIGILANCE/DISCIPLINARY CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE” during the application and produce the original during the interview.
- Travel Reimbursement: Shortlisted candidates invited for an interview will be reimbursed AC 2-Tier train fare or economy class airfare (up to ₹15,000) strictly via government-authorized travel agents (Balmer Lawrie, Ashok Travels, or IRCTC).
