Multiple Graduate Student Positions: The Spanbauer Lab at the University of Toledo is actively recruiting multiple graduate students at the PhD level. The lab focuses on aquatic ecology, paleoecology, paleolimnology, and molecular ecology, with open positions on projects studying the impacts of global change on the biodiversity of large lakes worldwide. Projects include investigations into harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie, climate change impacts on Cited web dynamics in Lake Tanganyika, and sea-level rise in a coastal freshwater system.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- M.S. in biology, ecology, geology, or a related field.
- Background or familiarity with molecular biology and phytoplankton taxonomy preferred.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm to engage in molecular biology and phytoplankton taxonomy if not previously experienced.
Job Description:
- Develop datasets using modern and ancient environmental DNA datasets recovered from aquatic ecosystems.
- Process large datasets, mentor undergraduate students, prepare manuscripts for publication.
- Deliver presentations at scientific meetings.
