About- In an age in which all forms of knowledge and experience can find their way to the computer, “computation,” whether it be the actual manipulation of digital encodings or framing for discussion, is central to many of the investigations and innovations that range across the humanities, arts, and sciences. In this way, computation becomes a nexus for much of epistemology and thus, a cause of and opportunity for collaboration. The mission of the Neukom Institute for Computational Science at Dartmouth College is to support this broad view of computational investigation across campus and to catalyze creative thought throughout the Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, and Business, for undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty.

2. Research interests that strongly intersect the theme of computation.
3. A demonstrated interest in multidisciplinary research.
4. Evidence of the ability to think outside traditional paradigms.

Job/Position Description- 

The Neukom Institute for Computational Science at Dartmouth College is pleased to announce the Neukom Postdoctoral Fellows competition for positions starting September 1, 2021.

Neukom Fellows are interdisciplinary positions for recent PhDs, DMAs, or MFAs whose research interests or practice cuts across traditional disciplinary boundaries, and has some computational component, whether it be a framing concept for intellectual exploration or an explicit part of the work that is pursued.

The successful candidate should have a history of collaborative work across disciplines, but still, show evidence of independence and initiative. They must have their Ph.D. in any discipline or expected by September 2021, DMA, or MFA.

The Fellowships are two-year appointments.

Neukom Fellows will be mentored by faculty in two departments at Dartmouth College, take up residence in one department, and will teach one seminar course each year on a subject of their interest. Other than travel for research and conferences, fellows are expected to be in residence at Dartmouth. There are no additional duties.

Neukom Fellow stipends are $60,000 for 2021-2022. Additional funds are available for equipment, travel, and research materials.

  5. Three referees whose letters of recommendation speak to the aims of the Fellowship.
  6. (Optional) A copy of one paper you have written in English (or some comparable kind of creative work), either published or unpublished.
  7. (Optional) A teaching statement.
  8. (Optional) A cover letter.
