Eligibility/Qualification

  • Required Degree: Doctorate in Plant Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Ecology, Breeding, Bioengineering, Computational Biology, Soil Science, or a related discipline

  • Desired Qualifications: Research productivity, strong communication skills, ability to work in interdisciplinary teams

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead innovative, high-impact research aligned with the Topp Lab’s mission
  • Publish findings in leading peer-reviewed journals
  • Collaborate across disciplines and institutions
  • Mentor graduate students, undergraduates, and technical staff
  • Develop fellowship and independent funding proposals

Research Focus Includes:

  • Genome-wide association and quantitative genetics of root traits
  • Integration of genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic datasets
  • Gene editing and validation of candidate loci
  • Cell and developmental biology of root growth and branching
  • Plant–microbe interactions, including arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis
