Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD degree in Ecology, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in vegetation and ecosystems dynamics, biodiversity, climate change, and human-nature interactions.
  • Excellent skills in data analysis and programming, preferably in C or C++.
  • Documented ability to publish in high-quality scientific journals.
  • Very good communication skills in English.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Adapt the LPJ-GUESS Model to the study region, including testing and parameter adjustments.
  • Combine model data with historical ecological dynamics, such as pollen and charcoal data.
  • Derive indicators for Nature’s Contributions to People (NCPs) and biodiversity from model results.
  • Collaborate closely with social scientists to simulate social-ecological systems and predict future scenarios.
  • Publish research findings in reputable scientific journals.
  • Contribute to outreach and science-policy interface activities.
