Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Animal Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Interest in infectious disease epidemiology and viral evolution.
- Affinity with livestock farming and commitment to improving swine health.
- Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and statistical analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with phylodynamic analyses is a plus.
- Fluency in Dutch is an asset, with proficiency in English required.
Job Description
The PhD project involves:
- Analyzing genetic sequence data from PRRSv strains.
- Investigating viral transmission dynamics between pig farms.
- Identifying virulent viral lineages.
- Developing biosecurity measures for farmers.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders, including Royal GD and pharmaceutical companies.
- Communicating findings through scientific publications and lay summaries for farmers.
