PhD Candidate – Mycobacteria Research Line, Spain

Postdoc in Spain

PhD Candidate – Mycobacteria Research Line: The Centre de Recerca en Sanitat Animal (IRTA-CReSA) is currently seeking a motivated PhD candidate to join the Mycobacteria Research Line in the Project “New approaches for mucosal vaccination against tuberculosis in the goat model: evaluation of immunogenicity, efficacy, and effects on diagnosis (MODEGOAT).” The primary objective of this project is to assess various vaccination approaches against tuberculosis (TB), including inactivated mycobacterial vaccines and mucosal vaccination, by studying immune markers, protection parameters, and diagnostic interference in the goat model of TB.

TB is a major global health concern, with 1.6 million people succumbing to the disease in 2021. Animal TB is a widespread zoonotic disease that contributes significantly to the global TB burden. To combat this, the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have jointly developed a roadmap for the prevention and control of zoonotic TB. The laboratory conducting this research has over two decades of experience in TB vaccine development and evaluation.

We are actively seeking candidates with backgrounds in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or Veterinary Medicine, holding a Master’s degree in Immunology, Microbiology, or related life sciences. Proficiency in English, a strong academic record, and laboratory experience in immunology, microbiology, molecular biology techniques, bioinformatics, or related fields will be considered valuable assets.

If you are interested in this position, please contact the thesis supervisor via email, providing your CV and a motivation letter by October 13. All information provided will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
