Research Focus

The project, “The role of endothelial fenestrations in health, disease and ageing,” aims to uncover the cellular mechanisms underlying vascular decline during ageing. The research will involve:

  • Establishing how ageing affects endothelial fenestrations.
  • Utilizing advanced microscopy, including super-resolution optical imaging and electron microscopy.
  • Applying cell and molecular biology techniques.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and supervising students.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in biomedicine or medical biology (or near completion).
  • Documented oral and written English proficiency.

Desired:

  • Experience with microscopy (fluorescence/confocal, SEM/TEM), sample preparation, and primary cell culture.
  • Skills in image analysis, bioinformatics, and scientific writing.
  • Relevant accreditations for work with research animals or radioactive sources.
  • Knowledge of a Scandinavian language is beneficial but not required.

Job Description

As a PhD Fellow, you will be expected to:

  • Work independently and within a team on the research project.
  • Participate in organized doctoral studies at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
  • Contribute 25% of your time annually to teaching and administrative duties.
  • Engage in disseminating research findings.
