Eligibility/Qualification
- MSc degree in mechanical, maritime, or aerospace engineering, or related field.
- Strong background in fluid mechanics.
- Experimental experience in flow measurements (advantageous).
- Proficient in Matlab and Python.
- Fluent in English (written and oral); proficiency can be substantiated via IELTS/TOEFL or a fully English-taught master’s program.
Job Description
The PhD candidate will focus on:
- Designing and performing full-scale imaging measurements (e.g., particle/bubble tracking velocimetry) to analyze wind fields at marine vessel landing decks.
- Validating simulations of wind fields and assessing the implications for drone operations.
- Exploring measurement techniques and limitations under full-scale conditions.
- Collaborating within a vibrant team at TU Delft and the Netherlands Defence Academy (NLDA).
The candidate will receive mentorship and training opportunities, attend international conferences, and contribute to impactful research.
