Eligibility/Qualification

  • MSc degree in mechanical, maritime, or aerospace engineering, or related field.
  • Strong background in fluid mechanics.
  • Experimental experience in flow measurements (advantageous).
  • Proficient in Matlab and Python.
  • Fluent in English (written and oral); proficiency can be substantiated via IELTS/TOEFL or a fully English-taught master’s program.

Job Description

The PhD candidate will focus on:

  • Designing and performing full-scale imaging measurements (e.g., particle/bubble tracking velocimetry) to analyze wind fields at marine vessel landing decks.
  • Validating simulations of wind fields and assessing the implications for drone operations.
  • Exploring measurement techniques and limitations under full-scale conditions.
  • Collaborating within a vibrant team at TU Delft and the Netherlands Defence Academy (NLDA).

The candidate will receive mentorship and training opportunities, attend international conferences, and contribute to impactful research.
