Description
This PhD project aims to advance Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) pharmaceutical manufacturing methodologies. Key features of the project include:
- Development of digital twins to simulate the entire production process.
- Implementation of life cycle assessments to evaluate environmental impacts at all synthesis and formulation stages.
- Use of multi-objective optimization algorithms to balance yield, cost, safety, emissions, and process robustness.
This research is part of the PHARMECO consortium, consisting of over 30 industrial and academic partners from 14 countries, aiming to address sustainability in the healthcare industry.
The ideal candidate will engage at the intersection of synthetic organic chemistry, chemical engineering, and digital process modeling, contributing significantly to greener pharmaceutical development.
