Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Must be a domestic student (Australian citizens, Australian Permanent Residents, New Zealand Citizens).
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in qualitative social science (sociology, anthropology, human geography, or relevant fields).
  • Experience in ethnographic research is essential.

Description:

This PhD project aims to investigate how AI can enhance energy systems and improve user experiences for diverse Australian households. Research will focus on understanding how AI technologies can align with people’s everyday priorities to support a sustainable energy transition. The project will explore research questions such as:

  • How AI systems can provide value by supporting flexible energy management.
  • Ethical protocols to ensure trust in AI energy systems.
  • Strategies to enhance participation and consumer engagement in AI-supported energy decisions.

Supervised by Professors Yolande Strengers and Sarah Pink, candidates will be part of Monash’s innovative Energy Futures team, which is connected to the Energy Institute and multiple faculties.
