Eligibility/Qualification–

Essential Qualification

Candidates must fulfill any one of the following:

1. Post Graduate Degree, including integrated PG degrees

OR

2. Four-Year Graduate Degree in Engineering/IT/Computer Science

Detailed Academic Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Minimum 75% marks or 7.0 CGPA out of 10 in all degree examinations, including Class X and XII.
• Either:
  • First Class Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Computer Science Engineering

      with minimum 4 years of software development experience in Java/Python

Job/Position Description- 

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has invited applications for the post of Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) under the sponsored research project titled “Malignancy related Distress and other Stress Healing Initiative (M-DOSTHI): Development and Clinical Validation of a Novel Virtual Assistant for Psychological Intervention in Oncology Patients (M-DOSTHI)”.

The project is being conducted in collaboration with All India Institute of Medical Sciences Kalyani and Indian Council of Medical Research. Candidates with a strong background in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, Communication Engineering, and software development are encouraged to apply.

Designation: Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical)

The selected candidate will work on the development and clinical validation of an innovative virtual assistant aimed at supporting psychological interventions for oncology patients. Responsibilities may include:

• Software and AI system development
• Designing healthcare-oriented digital solutions
• Data handling and system integration
• Supporting clinical validation activities
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary research teams

Salary and Benefits

• Consolidated salary: Up to ₹60,000 per month depending on qualifications and experience
• HRA admissible as per rules
• Age relaxation up to 5 years may be granted for candidates with relevant experience in Government Research Organizations
• Initial appointment up to one year, extendable based on performance and project requirements

Tenure

The appointment is purely temporary and contractual:

• Duration: 36 Months or till termination of the project, whichever is earlier
• Extension possible subject to performance review and sponsor approval
