Research Area

Job Description
As a PhD candidate, you will work at the intersection of wireless communications, integrated photonics, networking, and artificial intelligence. Responsibilities include:
- Developing novel concepts for intelligent hybrid RFโOWC networks that optimize service delivery in real time.
- Combining analytical modeling, system simulation, and photonic integrated circuit design.
- Conducting experimental validation using state-of-the-art communication testbeds.
- Spending 10% to 15% of your employment time on teaching tasks and coaching students.
- Collaborating closely with high-tech industrial partners in the Brainport Eindhoven region.
Eligibility / Qualification
- A Masterโs degree (or an equivalent university degree) in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a closely related field.
- A strong affinity for optical and/or wireless communication techniques.
- Familiarity with optical and electronic laboratory measurement equipment, optical fiber system setups, electronic circuits, and programming skills.
- A solid background in telecommunication systems and general knowledge of wireless channel modeling and component design (knowledge of integration technologies is a plus).
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary and international team.
- Fluency in spoken and written English (C1 level).
