Research Area

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A completed Master’s degree in natural engineering, industrial engineering, informatics, or a related field of study.
  • Very good knowledge of energy technology, energy economics, and energy policies.
  • Initial experience in energy system modeling (advantageous).
  • Proficient programming skills (e.g., Python).
  • High degree of independence and commitment to work.
  • Reliable and conscientious work style.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and German.

Description

The PhD role involves:

  • Modeling spatially resolved transformation paths for the energy system in Germany and Europe.
  • Analyzing CO2 infrastructures’ role in energy system design.
  • Enhancing existing energy system models with focus on CO2 capture, utilization, and negative emissions.
  • Actively participating in scientific discourse and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
