Research Area

Eligibility/Qualification
General Requirements:
- Have been awarded a second-cycle/advanced/master’s degree, OR
- Have completed courses comprising at least 240 credits (with at least 60 credits at the advanced level), OR
- Have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in Sweden or abroad.
Specific Requirements:
- Proficiency in English equivalent to the course English B/English 6 at a Swedish upper secondary school.
Required Skills & Background:
- An academic background in computer science, data science, engineering, statistics, bioinformatics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Strong programming skills, preferably in Python.
- Documented experience in applying NLP and deep learning methods within healthcare or biomedical research.
- Experience working with large-scale healthcare databases, electronic health records, or real-world health data.
- Note: Previous research experience, scientific publications, and familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) are strong merits.
Job Description
The PhD student will contribute to all stages of a complex research project aimed at improving care for dementia patients using one of the world’s largest dementia care datasets. Duties include:
- Identifying non-pharmacological care strategies and mapping care pathways.
- Analyzing large linked registry datasets and conducting natural language processing of clinical documentation.
- Performing longitudinal and health economic analyses.
- Working effectively both independently and within an interdisciplinary research team.
- Participating in scientific publication and the dissemination of findings.
