PhD Position in Bio-inorganic Chemistry: Université Paris Cité, UMR 8601, Supramolecular Bio-inorganic Chemistry group invites applications for a PhD position starting in Autumn 2024, with a duration of 3 years. The research will focus on the synthesis and study of luminescent chiral molecular cages for probing and imaging applications.
PhD Position in Supramolecular Bio-inorganic Chemistry
Study Area: Coordination Chemistry, Supramolecular Chemistry, Molecular Cages, Luminescence, Chirality, Chiroptic
Location: Université Paris Cité, UMR 8601, Supramolecular Bio-inorganic Chemistry group, Paris, France
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related field.
- Strong background and interest in coordination chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, and luminescent materials.
- Proficiency in organic synthesis techniques is desirable.
- Excellent academic record.
Description: The research aims to develop molecular systems emitting in the Near-Infra-Red (NIR) for bio-imaging applications. The project will involve the synthesis of tetrahedral molecular cages holding NIR-emitting coordination complexes and studying the effects of chirality on their photophysical properties. The student will conduct organic synthesis of ligands, self-assemble molecular cages, and analyze the emission and chiroptic properties of the assemblies.
Funding: The PhD position is funded by an ANR JCJC project “SupraCPL” (ANR-23-CE07-0019-01).
How to Apply: Interested candidates should send their CV, the names of two former advisors, and transcripts of their Master’s degree (1st and 2nd years) to benjamin.doistau@u-paris.fr.
Last Date: Application deadline is not specified. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
