Funded PhD Position in Cell Biology at Institut Jacques Monod, Paris, France

Postdoc in France

PhD Position in Cell Biology: A fully funded PhD position is available at the Institut Jacques Monod (IJM) in Paris, within the “Membrane trafficking, ubiquitin, and signaling” team led by Sébastien LEON. This research opportunity is focused on understanding the regulation of AMPK signaling by glucose and metabolism, utilizing multidisciplinary approaches in cell biology.

Funded PhD Position in Cell Biology at Institut Jacques Monod, Paris

Designation: PhD Student in Cell Biology

Research Area: Mechanistic insights into the regulation of AMPK signaling by glucose and metabolism.

Location: Institut Jacques Monod, Université Paris-Cité, Paris, France

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Recently obtained a Master 2 degree in Biological Sciences.
  • Strong interest in signaling pathways regulation and molecular mechanisms.
  • High motivation, rigorous work ethic, and team collaboration skills.
  • Experience in basic laboratory techniques such as molecular biology (cloning, mutagenesis), biochemical assays (western blotting, co-immunoprecipitations), and imaging.
  • Knowledge of yeast biology and techniques is an advantage but not required.
  • Proficiency in English is essential as it is the working language in the lab.

Job Description: The PhD project aims to elucidate the mechanisms of AMPK inhibition by glucose, focusing particularly on the regulation by protein phosphatase 1. The research involves:

  • Multidisciplinary approaches including molecular biology, genetic assays, live cell imaging, innovative protein-protein interaction assays, in vitro assays, and quantitative proteomics.
  • Enrolment in the Doctoral School “BioSPC” at Université Paris-Cité.
  • Conducting research in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment at IJM, which hosts approximately 250 researchers and offers a stimulating academic atmosphere.

How to Apply: Candidates must send the following documents to Sébastien LEON (sebastien.leon@ijm.fr):

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • A short summary of research achievements and mastered techniques
  • Contact information of at least two references
