Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in energy technologies, engineering, environmental sciences, renewable energies, industrial engineering, materials, geosciences, or related fields.
  • Strong interest in energy technology, economics, and policy.
  • Programming experience in Python or comparable languages.
  • Experience in energy system modeling is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English (at least B2 level); German skills are beneficial.
  • Must not have lived or carried out main activities in Germany for over 12 months in the past three years.

Description

The chosen candidate will engage in evaluating the economic viability of geothermal plants for power, heat, and critical materials. Tasks include:

  • Implementing geothermal plants in energy system optimization models.
  • Conducting economic evaluations of material extraction methods.
  • Identifying conditions for the economic viability of geothermal plants.
  • Assessing the strategic role of geothermal plants in future European energy systems.
