- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science
- Strong computational skills in algorithm design and data analysis
- Relevant experience in Bioinformatics courses/projects
- Proficiency in programming/software engineering
- Good communication skills in English (verbal and written)
- Willingness to teach and guide students
Job Description
As a PhD candidate, you will:
- Develop and implement algorithms to find, quantify, and track mutations in evolving populations of pathogens.
- Tackle challenges such as distinguishing genomic mutations from sequencing errors, managing large-scale structural variation, and linking mutations across genome distances.
- Collaborate with experimental groups and contribute to the understanding of pathogen evolution, infection treatment design, and pathogen surveillance.
