PhD Position in Modern Body Form: The Institute of Evolutionary Medicine at the University of Zurich is offering a 80% temporary PhD position to work on a project focused on the evolutionary and ontogenetic foundations of modern body form, in collaboration with leading institutions. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in anthropology, palaeontology, biology, or a related field
  • Strong interest in human evolution and a passion for publishing
  • Background in virtual techniques, human anatomy, or biomechanics is desirable

Job Description:
The project aims to analyze Homo erectus skeletons using advanced virtual imaging techniques and modern reference samples to explore evolutionary changes in body proportions and growth trajectories, skeletal development, pathology, and biomechanical adaptations in response to bipedalism. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collect data abroad, present findings at international conferences, collaborate in other projects of the group, assist in teaching, and mentor students.
