PhD Position: Microwave Applications: The Institut FOTON and IETR invite applications for a PhD position in the field of optical actuation of phase change materials (PCM) for versatile microwave functions. PhD Position: Optical Actuation of Phase Change Material for Microwave Applications

Location: Rennes, France

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Education Level: Master’s degree or equivalent in physics, applied physics, material science, or related fields.
  • Skills/Qualifications: Strong motivation and interest in experimental sciences and theoretical modeling. Basic skills in optoelectronics, microwave devices, and processing are desirable. Good command of English is required.
  • Researcher Profile: First Stage Researcher (R1).

Description: The main objective of this PhD project is to develop reconfigurable microwave circuits in the [10, 30] GHz frequency range using optical actuation of PCM materials. The candidate will be involved in material characterizations, RF simulation and measurements, and device processing. Collaboration with experts from Institut FOTON and IETR will provide access to state-of-the-art facilities and expertise. The project offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the interface of materials, optics, and microwave electronics.
