PhD Position on Synthetic Microbial: Wageningen University & Research is offering a fully funded PhD position in the Systems & Synthetic Biology Chair Group. The successful candidate will work on developing novel approaches to mathematically describe and engineer synthetic microbial communities for resilient and reliable bioprocessing applications.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree in Microbiology, Systems Biology, Biotechnology, Bio-engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Interest and experience in mathematical descriptions of microbial interactions and ecology.
- Familiarity with microbial culturing, preferably axenic and/or anaerobic.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills.
- English language proficiency at C1 level.
Job Description:
PhD Position on Rational Design of Synthetic Microbial Communities
- Combine experimental and computational work for developing holistic modeling- and statistics-based approaches for stable synthetic community design.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary colleagues in a supportive environment.
- Lead research questions, design experiments, analyze results, and communicate outcomes at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
