Research Area
The project focuses on investigating synthetic molecular motors that convert fuel to work and move in directional motion. It involves measuring force generation and analyzing molecular interactions through optical tweezers and fluorescence microscopy techniques.
Location
Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Netherlands
Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree (MSc) in Physics, Nanoscience, Biophysics, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience in experimental research (preferably in soft condensed matter physics, biophysics, force-spectroscopy, or advanced optics/microscopy).
- Affinity with data analysis and programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
- Strong motivation to work in an interdisciplinary research environment.
- Excellent command of English (both writing and speaking).
Job Description
- Develop and perform single-molecule experiments using optical tweezers and fluorescence microscopy.
- Design and optimize assays for quantifying binding interactions and dynamics of molecular motors.
- Measure force generation and motion at the single-molecule level.
- Analyze experimental data and connect results to theoretical models.
- Collaborate with theorists and chemists within the consortium and contribute to publications.
