Postdoc and PhD Positions in Early Modern History: The University of Vienna, Department of History, is seeking candidates for 1 Postdoctoral Researcher (full-time, 4 yrs) and 2 PhD students (0.75 FTE, 4 yrs) positions in “Early Modern History.” These positions are part of the ERC Starting Grant Project “Sustained Concerns: Administration of Mineral Resources in Central Europe, 1550-1850” (SCARCE), focusing on the intersection of history of science and technology, social and economic history, and environmental history.

Designation: Post-Doctoral Fellow (1 position)

Location: Austria

Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates for the Postdoctoral Researcher position should have a relevant doctoral level degree in history or a related field, experience in archival research (preferably for the early modern period), proficiency in English and German, and the ability to read research literature and period sources in German or another Central European language.

Job Description: The Postdoctoral Researcher will join the SCARCE project and be involved in interdisciplinary research at the University of Vienna. The project focuses on resource management principles and their historical development, addressing issues of economic development, sustainability, and technological innovation in proto-industrial settings.

PhD Positions (2 positions) Location: Austria

Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates for the PhD positions should have an MA or equivalent degree in history or a related field, proficiency in English and German, and the ability to read research literature and period sources in German or another Central European language.
