Research Area
Exploration of main group-mediated small molecule activation and catalysis using heavy pnictogen elements (Sb and Bi) as sustainable alternatives to transition metals.
Location
University of Manchester, Department of Chemistry, Manchester, UK
Eligibility/Qualification
- Must have, or expect to achieve, a minimum of a 2.1 honours degree or a Master’s (or international equivalent) in Chemistry.
- Experience in Schlenk-line and glovebox techniques is highly desirable.
Description
This research project aims to synthesize and investigate the reactivity of planar Sb and Bi pincer complexes. The goal is to contribute to the development of new, transition metal-free catalytic cycles through mechanistic studies and photochemical methods. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research environment, benefiting from close supervision and a small, supportive team.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should apply online through the University of Manchester’s website. Applicants are encouraged to contact the project supervisor, Dr. Josh Abbenseth, before applying. Required documents include:
- Final transcript and certificates of university qualifications
- CV
- A supporting statement (1-2 pages)
- Contact details for two referees
- English Language certificate (if applicable)
Complete applications will be considered, and incomplete applications will not be processed.
Last Date to Apply
Applications are encouraged to be submitted as early as possible, as the advertisement may be removed before the official deadline.
