Eligibility/Qualification: We are seeking a talented and dedicated PhD student with:

  • An MSc degree in Physics or Thermal/Electrical Engineering
  • Excellent knowledge of thermal transport, particularly at nano- and micro-scales
  • Experience with experimental laboratory work, especially in thermal characterization techniques
  • Strong analytical skills and a critical approach to research
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written
  • Interest in educational activities

Description: The ERC CoG project “THERMO2DEAL” offers one PhD position for an Early Stage Researcher/PhD student to commence in September 2024 for a duration of 48 months. Funded by the European Research Council, this project aims to explore novel 2D MXene materials for thermal modulators in nearly isothermal battery operation. Under the supervision of Dr. Muñoz Rojo at ICMM-CSIC, the successful candidate will utilize advanced thermometry techniques such as Time Domain Thermo-Reflectance and Scanning Thermal Microscopy to characterize 2D materials and thin films. Additionally, the candidate will investigate the thermal properties of electrochemical devices based on these materials under in operando conditions. The selected candidate will be enrolled in the PhD doctoral programme at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources for their research.
