PhD Scholarship in Analytical Chemistry:
The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) in association with the University of Basel is offering a fully funded PhD scholarship in Analytical Chemistry and Pharmacokinetics. Designation: PhD Position in Analytical Chemistry and Pharmacokinetics

Research Area:
The selected candidate will be involved in the investigation and preclinical studies of potential treatments for schistosomiasis and other neglected tropical diseases, focusing on analytical chemistry and pharmacokinetics.

Location:
Allschwil, Switzerland

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • MSc degree in chemistry, pharmacy, biology, or related fields
  • Proficiency and hands-on experience in LC-MS/MS and analytical method development
  • Interest in parasitology research and work with rodents
  • Excellent laboratory skills
  • Strong communication skills in English (French and/or German is an asset)
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and enthusiastic about a multidisciplinary work environment

Job Description:
As a PhD candidate, the responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a sensitive, selective, and rapid LC-MS/MS method for drug analysis
  • Conducting pharmacokinetic studies with diverse doses and treatment regimens in mice, humanized mice, and hamsters
  • Assisting with pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling
  • Conducting combination chemotherapy studies with the lead candidate and other antischistosomal drugs
