PhD Scholarship in Diseases and Therapeutics: The University of Copenhagen is offering a fully-funded PhD position in the field of newborn infectious diseases and therapeutics. The project is based at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and will explore the impact of early life nutrition and BCG vaccine on preventing sepsis and mortality in newborns. The position starts on 1 December 2024 and lasts for three years.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in medicine, biomedicine, immunology, microbiology, biology, veterinary medicine, or related field
  • Strong academic record
  • Relevant research experience in animal models of infectious/inflammatory diseases
  • Laboratory skills in molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, and metabolism
  • Experience with omics analyses (transcriptomics, metabolomics) is a plus
  • Proficiency in English

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Carry out an independent research project under supervision
  • Complete PhD courses equivalent to 30 ECTS points
  • Participate in active research environments, including a stay at another research institution
  • Gain teaching or dissemination experience related to the PhD project
  • Write and submit a PhD thesis based on the research project
